Sidi Genius 6.6 This is my second pair of Sidi's and an upgrade for me from the standard Genius. I had ridden a 46 Mega in that shoe, but the 6.6 Mega 46 was too long so I went for the 46.5 standard. They fit perfectly (I have wide feet - US 11.5) and the shoe is amazing -- I am always apprehensive when I hear about gear being a huge factor in power transfer (aside from the bike of course) but my rides on these have been faster and felt comfortable over 50++ miles. Highly recommended.
Pedalling efficiency
Very impressed with this shoe - easily adjustable and very comfortable - a little perturbed to discover it's the 2009 model as 2010 saw a new 'lite' sole although the extra grams are not a major issue at all. Strongly recommend if you want less lost energy. Great Price.

Warm and waterproof - but loose in the heel Bought this shoe a few weeks ago in hopes of avoiding the use of booties on my long, wet Seattle commute. They look cool (if you can say that about a bike shoe) and keep my feet totally dry and warm despite mother nature's attempts to soak/freeze me.
My only gripe is that the heel of this shoe doesn't seem to "cup" my heel snugly; walking around in the shoe you can feel your heel slip up and down a bit - something I'd never experienced with any other SIDI shoe. Perhaps a ratchet buckle could have solved this? No idea. On the bike this completely unnoticeable, but it's kinda irritating when you're walking about.
Overall - a stellar product that's well worth the money if you spend a lot of time in the rain and hate booties.

Great Value and Great Shoe! I purchased these cycling shoes based on a recommendation from a friend and couldn't be happier with them. They are comfortable, stable, breathe well, and provide the added pull I needed for climbing the hills of the Ozarks! I highly recommend them to anyone who bikes between 50 -100 miles a week.
An entry level road shoe that accommodates both SPD and SPD-SL cleats & pedals
I've been using Specialized Mountain Bike shoes with SPD pedals on my road bike for 6 years. I finally decided it was time to get a more appropriate road cycling shoe and I chose the Shimano SH-R086L along with the Shimano 105 PD-5700 pedals Shimano PD-5700 105 Road Bike Pedals, Silver
I'm a size 13 and the size I ordered was not 46 as suggested by the Amazon sizing chart, but 48 as suggested by the Shimano website. I'd suggest you double-check your size with Shimano instead of using the Amazon sizing guide. The Amazon sizing guide is way off compared to the Shimano guide.
The shoe is fairly light, not overly stiff. You can use both SPD and SPD-SL pedals and cleats with the shoe. The ratcheting buckle works nicely and feels secure. The quick release also works well. I have no issues with the shoes other than they seem a little cheesy as concerns the look and feel of the shoe. I feel they are an OK introduction to a road cycling shoe. More experienced competitive riders will desire a stiffer more rigid shoe. Something along the lines of the Shimano SH-R190 Shimano SH-R190 Shoe - Men's would be a good starting point for that type or cyclist.
Although the shoes seem a little cheesy to me as far as uppers material quality, look and feel, they will probably suffice for most sport riders but the shoe is not appropriate for more competitive racers who would need a stiffer, shoe made of higher quality materials. If you can get these on sale, they would be a better value.

FIT LIKE MY SKIN Thes shoes form to the personal dynamics of the individual feet. I have numerous pairs of cycling shoes and I will attest to these beng in the group of my favorites. They are soft and plyable. I use them with SPD type cleats, but look types are easily accomodated. Buy these shoes. you will not regret it. (note: If you wear an american size get the next half size up. i.e 43.5D is truly an exact 10 size, not 10.5D).
Good, BUT..
They run a little small, so as the other reviewer stated get a 1/2 size- a full size bigger if possible.
